Units Command:

Units command is used to
  • Change type and precision of length and angle.
  • Change insertion scale
The short form of units command is "un". When you type un in AutoCAD and press enter this will appear on the screen

Type of length:

  • Decimal
  • Architectural
  • Engineering
  • Fractional
  • Scientific

Type of Angles:

  • Decimal Degrees
  • DEG/ MIN/ SEC
  • Grads
  • Radians
  • Surveyor's units
There are many measuring units:
  • Inches 
  • feets
  • millimeters
  • yards 
  • miles etc
The default length type in AutoCAD is decimal, default angle type is decimal degrees and default unit is inches.

For architectural units ( ' ) indicates feets and ( " ) indicates inches.

Difference between Line and Polyline (Pline): The Line and Polyline are two commands with different properties in AutoCAD. In Line Command every time we click, the part between two points.  The Line Command allows you to create a single straight line or a chain of straight lines.  When we select a polyline it selected as a whole object. On the other side when we select Line it is selected as a single line segment.  We can edit Polyline with " PEDIT Command ". On the other side, there is no specific command to edit line. Pline Command can draw curve segments as well as line straight ones but Line Command can draw only line segments. A polyline can have width but a line has no width. Polyline Command Polyline: A polyline is a connected sequence of segments created as a single planer object. You can create straight line segments, arc segments or a combination of two. Polyline is also called PLINE and short form of pline is PL. You can also access Polyline command by clicking this icon. You can also modify polyline.
